The word “Paralegal” is combination of two words i.e. ‘Para’ and ‘Legal’.  The word ‘Para’ stands for ‘similar’ or ‘ancillary’ and the word ‘Legal’ stands for ‘action’ or ‘thing’ authorized by law or which is acceptable in the eyes of law. The word paralegal is used for the persons who do some job similar or related to an Advocate but they are not actually Advocates.

A legal assistant or paralegal is a person, qualified by education, training, or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity. He performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a Lawyer is responsible.Since the very beginning, Lawyers have been engaging services of persons who can help to fetch them valuable information regarding final product of a legal proceeding.

  • Knowledge of diverse range of opportunities and options existing in a particular field is must for every lawyer to enable him to choose a right option at right time.
  • Young lawyers should update their legal knowledge, forensic skills, ethics, courtroom etiquettes & manners, skills for drafting of legal documents, analytical reading, clarity of communication, sending and receiving e-mails, MMS & SMS, internet surfing, etc. for best performance in their legal career.
  • Those lawyers who are not satisfied with their minimum average income per month even after 3-5 years of practice must review their career options and opportunity before it is too late.

B.A LLB & L.L.M ENTRANCE – COMMON LAW ADMISSION TEST, (CLAT)

There is a common entrance test for undergraduate and post-graduate programmes at top eleven law schools: namely NLSIU, Bangalore; NALSAR, Hyderabad; NLIU, Bhopal; WBNUJS, Kolkata; NLU, Jodhpur; HNLU, Raipur; GNLU, Gandhi Nagar; RMNLU, Lucknow; RGNUL, Patiala; CNLU, Patna and NUALS, Kochi. Indian nationals seeking admission courses in these institutions must appear in CLAT. Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for LLB and LLM is conducted in the month of May, every year.

There was a time when options were very limited for the law graduates of becoming Advocates in their nearest town or city. But now in modern times, there are so many attractive career options and avenues for law professionals that they get confused what they should do and from where they should start. Now even sky is not the limit for professionals.

Law professionals have very analytical and sharp thinking faculties due to which they get so many opportunities which no other professional get in his life. Legal profession is highly respected and remunerative profession in modern times.
